Our Temple Guards

 Dear Family and Friends:
Another week has come and gone.  They seem to go so quickly.  Now that we know that we only have 7 weeks left, we are going to try and get pictures of all who have helped to make our mission here so enjoyable.  Today we have the pictures of our Temple Security Guards who are employed by the church.  They are stationed in the Guard House
Anyone entering the temple grounds has to come past this guard house and enter through the glass doors that you see by the orange cones.  They have many camera screens inside where they can watch the temple grounds and make sure that all is secure.  Someone is here 24/7 and when it is the busy times usually 2 are on duty.  These men are also ordinance workers and can help where ever needed.

Hector Miculax is one of our gardners.  Oswaldo Zamora and Herlin Granillo are two of our guards.

Eric Arriaga is also a gardner with Edy Salazar, the head guard

Valmoris Ceballos, he loves to come over for cookies
                        Amilcar Hermandez

              Ferdinando Sagastume
They all have wonderful personalities and are so helpful.  They are the ones that drove me to and from the hospital when President Thompson was there for the 8 days with cellulitis.
Our Assistant Recorder is Jaime Carranza.  His little family came to the temple to say good-bye to the Roberts so we took the opportunity to get a photo of them at that time.

We went to the Temple on Wednesday for our Presidency Meeting and after the meeting Flora was there to attend a session.  She didn't realize that the temple closes after the 11am session and the next session isn't until 4pm.  We took her home to visit and then went to the 4:00 session with her.  We had a good visit.

Maria came to pick her up.  She is here in Guate visiting her husband's family.  Maria thought that they were coming on a vacation until she got here and found out that the family they were staying with were very, very poor and she has been working and cleaning and cooking the whole time.  She is ready to go home.  Flora is now 85 years old.  Gwen and her little boy were also here but I didn't get a photo of them.  We hadn't seen Gwen since we had to evict her from one of our rentals.  She started to apologize for the past, but we told her that we are forgetting the past, we can't change it.  We are moving forward with the future and we are happy that we have Grandma Flora and her family as part of our future.

As we were walking this week, we witnessed a couple of unusual sights.  This hand card was being used to its full potential and these water jugs were being transported up the street.
The empty bottles were tied together and he was getting ready to add more to his load.
Then we passed 4 men who were digging up a palm tree, root and all, and going to move it.  The pick-up really was smaller than the tree and when they pulled it over, the pick-up just kind of disappeared under the tree.
We didn't wait around to see how they got the roots into the bed.  It must have been quite a sight driving down the road with the branches in front of the windshield.  It was gone the next day so the task was completed.

We walked to Pollo Campero for lunch on Thursday.  We sure so miss the Roberts who usually went to lunch with us.  They have been gone for a week now.  Presidency meetings just aren't the same without them.

We pray that you have had a wonderful week.  The best news of this week is that I have been able to KNEEL down to say my prayers.  I do cheat and use a pillow under my knee but this is the first time in 15 months that I have been able to KNEEL for our prayers.  What a blessing that I took for granted all my life.  Enjoy each day, they come and are gone so fast.  We send our love, Dad and Mom, Grandpa and Grandma, Lon and Nancy
